Desktop Wallie: Stardust//Portfolio Post

I picked up an old copy of Stardust by Neil Gaiman at our local thrift store the other day. I'm a big fan of the movie, so I thought I'd give the book a try.

I don't recommend it, mainly because there were two very inappropriate parts at the beginning. It's quite sad, and nothing like the movie, and to be honest, I don't think I liked it that much. But because it was depressing, the ending stayed with me. So I made a wallpaper, dedicated to the last paragraph of the book.

They say that each night, when the duties of state permit, she climbs, on foot, and limps, alone, to the highest peak of the palace, where she stands for hour after hour, seeming not to notice the cold peak winds. She says nothing at all, but simply stares upward into the dark sky and watches, with sad eyes, the slow dance of the infinite stars.
On a happier and cheerier note, I finished another design today! (Er, almost finished. THANK YOU BLOGGER, now I don't know how to install signatures. I hope you're proud of yourself.)

Dia was lovely to work with, extremely understanding when I expressed (to my extreme frustration) that I was now unable to do a few things, thanks to the blogger changes. GRR. But all in all, I do like how her blog turned out, and I adore the writer-ly feel it has. Dia had some wonderful ideas!

I can't say I've ever read or seen Stardust, but that quote from the end is absolutely beautiful and sigh-worthy. I may need to check it out!

And also, Dia's blog design is fantastic. GREAT job on it!
