Desktop Wallie: Stardust//Portfolio Post

I picked up an old copy of Stardust by Neil Gaiman at our local thrift store the other day. I'm a big fan of the movie, so I thought I'd give the book a try.

I don't recommend it, mainly because there were two very inappropriate parts at the beginning. It's quite sad, and nothing like the movie, and to be honest, I don't think I liked it that much. But because it was depressing, the ending stayed with me. So I made a wallpaper, dedicated to the last paragraph of the book.

They say that each night, when the duties of state permit, she climbs, on foot, and limps, alone, to the highest peak of the palace, where she stands for hour after hour, seeming not to notice the cold peak winds. She says nothing at all, but simply stares upward into the dark sky and watches, with sad eyes, the slow dance of the infinite stars.
On a happier and cheerier note, I finished another design today! (Er, almost finished. THANK YOU BLOGGER, now I don't know how to install signatures. I hope you're proud of yourself.)

Dia was lovely to work with, extremely understanding when I expressed (to my extreme frustration) that I was now unable to do a few things, thanks to the blogger changes. GRR. But all in all, I do like how her blog turned out, and I adore the writer-ly feel it has. Dia had some wonderful ideas!

Portfolio Post: Two blogs!

Hi everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts...for a while there, orders were pretty dead. But now, thanks to Miss Taylor Lynn of Perfectly Sensible Nonsense, orders are filling up pretty fast!

Taylor Lynn was so great to work with. She was sweet, patient, and very good at letting me know exactly what she wanted!

Next up is my good friend in real life, Rebecca M. I've been telling her for ages that her photography skills are beautiful and must be showcased, and so when she came over a few weeks ago, I helped her set up her site! Be sure to check it out!

New Design

It occurred to me, a few days ago, that P&P hadn't had a new look since it started. So, after a whole lot of experimenting, doing and redoing, as well as having to learn a few things, I believe I have made a satisfactory design.

So now, before I finish it up, I need you all, dear followers, to tell me; Do you like the design?

God bless!

Password to Middle Earth -- a Portfolio post by Gwen

For this design, I actually cheated a tiny bit. I took Milisande's freebie, since Alaw liked it so much, and altered it a bit.

*note: I would not do that to any other design blog's background.

For the header, I used Hobbiton Brushand, then added a lighting effect to the text, and an image of the One Ring that I found online. I put it right in the middle, so it sort of looked like the ring was illuminating the text. Behind all that, I used the font Elven Common Speak, and wrote a few lines of J.R.R. Tolkien's "All That Is Gold" poem in random places.

For the background, I cloned the existing design on the sides, and again added some lines of the poem.

Portfolio Post -- Gwenea

Last week, I had the pleasure of doing two designs;

One for Emily of A Writer's Block of Chocolate (she just asked for a button)

And second, a full makeover for Galadhiel of When Life Gives You Lemons
